Our Story

Having lived in the village for 10 years, we, James and Charlie knew how much this pub meant to the community. It’s a very special place but we also knew she needed a little bit of love and it was time to help her sail again. So, we rolled up our sleeves and set to work!

Our favourite moment came the day the garden took shape, picturing families gathered under warm lights, friends raising glasses and children playing happily.

It reminded us exactly why we took on this adventure: to create a place where the village could come together, relax and feel at home.

The Ship may have a new look, but it is still the same pub that is anchored in the heart of Lower Upnor, but now refreshed, renewed and ready for her next chapter.
